What People Ask

What is the overall focus of the storytelling session?

I provide actionable advice and show meaningful examples on how to find and tell compelling stories that have proven to drive results. I teach organizations the power of storytelling in business and how to become a better communicator with your colleagues and your clients.

Do you like corn dogs?

Yes, with all my heart.

How long are the sessions?

As long as you need.. I’ve done every thing from 30 to 90 minutes for businesses, along with all day seminars for conventions.

What about public speaking and media training?

What about them? Can you be more specific? I can since I’m the one asking the questions.

How does public speaking and media training work?

I can meet with you for multiple, individualized sessions where we work on public speaking and/or media interviews. I also provide classroom workshops on public speaking and/or media training where I reveal insider information that I gained from live television appearances and interviews, as well as emceeing numerous high-profile events.

Are the sessions set in stone?

No. I like to try to tailor it to your organization's needs.

Can you help with media relations?

Yes, in a limited fashion. I can help strategize the best ways to promote your story through free media channels. And whenever possible, help with pitching and promoting that story. I can also provide insider secrets that will improve your chances of becoming a thought leader in your industry.

Do you still work with TV newsrooms?

Yes. In this session, I work with younger newsrooms on how to find and tell better stories that will lead a newscast and make the audience come back for more. And since I spent half my career as an investigative reporter, I’ll demonstrate easy ways to turn a daily story into a quick hit investigation.

I have more questions. Now what?

Email me! jay@jayolstad.com. I’ll be happy to chat about your next event, workshop, or what you’re having for dinner tonight. I need some ideas. I’m starving!
